Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama was born in Delta State, to Andrew and Rosaline-Onyi Iyamah.
She is the third of four children. She attended the Chrisland Schools and she was introduced to drama classes by an inspirational teacher while attending Grange School in Lagos.
Somkele holds a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from McMaster University. Her sojourn into the Nollywood industry began when she starred in the movie "Dreamwalker." However, the beautiful actress rose to limelight in 2013 when she starred in the TV series, "Gidi-Up."

Since then Somkele has grown to become one of the most promising Nollywood stars. In 2016 three films she starred in 93 Days (2016), The Wedding Party (2016) and, The Arbitration (2016) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Somkele is a fashion darling, her fashion style is flawless. At the 2017 AMVCA, where she won "The Trailblazer Award," she was the talk of the event because of her daring beautiful dress.
