The next gospel album you hear might just be from Snoop Dogg!

As we all know, the 45-year-old is a legend in the hip-hop game and gangster rap movement. So, you can imagine my surprise when I heard that he intends to drop a gospel album soon.

He shared the surprising news in an interview on Beats 1 Radio last week.

According to the rap mogul, he has always wanted to do gospel music, but the gangsta business prevented from following his heart.

He said: "It's always been on my heart. I just never got around to it because I always be doing gangsta business and doing this and doing that. But I just feel like it's been on my heart too long."

Now, he says ready to finally join the gospel music genre saying, "I'm working on a gospel album. I need to do it now."

During the interview, Snoop, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, also revealed artists he intends to work with on the album.

"Me, Faith Evans, we talked about it heavily, because she feels like she wants to get down with me. All the people I know from Charlie Wilson to Jeffery Osborne, whoever I want to get down with. [We're going to] make it right," he said.

In related news, the rap mogul has already given us an idea of what gospel music from him would sound like.

A while back, Snoop Dogg did a remix of gospel music artist Pastor Shirley Caesar's 1988 song "Hold My Mule", which has been turned into the "U Name It Holiday Anthem."

Over a DJ Battlecat production, he made reference to gospel musician and broadcast personality Bobby Jones while praising God and urging people to pray.

His version received approval from the 78-year-old pastor and gospel music veteran, who put it up on her YouTube channel.

Caesar also thanked him.

"I thank Snoop Dogg for doing such a marvelous job. Even the church accepted it. "So thank you Snoop," she said on OWN Network's "Where Are They Now."

Snoop was raised as a Christian with a Baptist Church background.

In spite of his Christian upbringing, the rap legend says he has discovered that all religions are the same.

"As an adult, I was able to seek out information on my own to find out that the Muslim religion, Rastafari, Baptist, Christian — that they all the same."

"They all God-fearing people and love is love. ... It's more based on life and a way of life and liberty as opposed to religion. Because religion is so false, because it's so past tense and written by someone who is not here. I feel like religion should be based on the way you live and the way you treat yourself and treat others," he said in 2013.
